Love Series - Heart Collage Designs
The term "collage" comes from the French "colle" meaning glue, and being the action of gluing scraps of paper or other flat material on a support. The term being used since the beginning of the 20th Century is rather new in art history, but the technique is not. Collage are compositions of various elements (such as paper, wood, fabric, feathers, leaves, and other found objects) pasted down with an adhesive glue or paint. Collages usually are made up of elements which relate to each other in some way. They may be related in color, theme, and imagery. They may be formally composed, i.e. done strictly with attention to design elements of line, form, shape, and so on, or they may be narrative in nature.

Ellen Miffitt brings over forty years of artistic experience in the arts to her personal expression and art instruction. Growing up in rural Connecticut kept her close to the earth and nature. When ten years old, “paint by number” kit for a Christmas present started her art career. By mixing the paint and straying outside of the lines, she made that numbered canvas her own. While in high school she was encouraged by an aunt who dabbled in the arts to pursue developing her talent.
